This treatment consists of a high velocity, low amplitude (HVLA) motion which is usually accompanied by a “clicking sound” that signifies a build-up of pressure within our spinal joint. This is a hands-on motion that is being delivered by both hands of the chiropractor that is attending to your spine.
Chiropractors treat patients by restoring normal movement and alignment to joints, termed a chiropractic adjustment. Chiropractic adjustments allow our spine to function the way it was intended. Nerves that connect our brain with every cell in our body exit the spinal cord through openings between each vertebra of the spine. Pressure is placed on nerves if the spine is not functioning correctly or is misaligned. This may cause the nerves to send mixed messages between our brain, muscles, organs and other tissues of the body. As a result, you may experience numerous symptoms including aches and pains. Chiropractic adjustments realign our spinal joints, taking pressure off the nerves so our body can heal itself naturally from illness and injury.
